Confirm a Walker Jail Release
The sheriff does not publish a verified recent-release feed. Its Daily Jail Reports page points to Daily Intake, which shows booking context rather than who left. The Automated Inmate Information System, or AIS, is telephone based. Call the jail, choose Detention, then AIS. A last name or date of birth is needed for a person-specific lookup. Booking information can take eight hours or more to appear, so a new or recently changed record may lag.

Ask for the booking sheet and release or discharge entry. Include the full name, date of birth if known, approximate booking date, booking number or jail ID when available, and the requested release date, time, reason, bond or court-order notation, and transfer agency. The Walker Sheriff's open-records form is the formal route when telephone information is not enough. Under the form's cited Georgia Open Records Act process, the office provides notice within three business days. That notice may provide the record, give a production schedule and estimate, or identify a lawful limit. The first fifteen minutes of staff time are free. The form lists $26.81 per hour after that unless another rate applies, ten or more copied pages at ten cents each, and postage for mailed records. Property After a Walker Release
Property questions can arise after release or transfer. The sheriff says new inmates have 72 hours to release property. Family and friends cannot bring property into the facility. Remaining property requires a signed release form and must be picked up within 30 days or it will be destroyed. These are facility rules, so callers should confirm the current status of a specific item with Detention.
A property pickup may support the fact that custody changed, but it is not the legal release record. AIS expressly offers released-inmate property information. Ask separately for the release entry when proof of the custody event is needed. If another person will collect belongings, confirm the signed authorization requirement before traveling to the jail.
Walker Release or Transfer
The key distinction is where legal custody went next. A person who bonded out or completed a local sentence may return to the community, sometimes subject to probation or another court condition. A person transferred to GDC remains confined under state authority. Someone moved to another county remains in local detention elsewhere.
