That report gives booking context, not an exit from custody. A name on intake proves only that a booking was reported. It does not state that the person later posted bond, received a court order, served the required time, transferred, or otherwise left the Walker County Jail.
A same-day release check starts with the sheriff's Automated Inmate Information System, or AIS, and detention staff. AIS is a phone route for current inmate information after processing. The sheriff has not published a local release-code dictionary. Request the actual wording rather than assigning a reason from a missing roster result. Court disposition may outlast the jail entry and better answer what happened to the case.

Walker Release or Transfer?
Still in custody means the jail or another agency continues to hold the person. Released from Walker County Jail means that local custody ended, but it does not always mean freedom from all custody. A transfer to GDC, another county, federal authorities, or a program can remove a person from Walker's current information while custody continues elsewhere.

Walker County Release Calls Today
Walker County release logistics are phone-centered. The Detention Division says shift supervisors are present around the clock, while AIS provides the automated route. Ask a narrow question: is the person still housed, and if not, what office can confirm the release or transfer entry? Staff may route a detailed records question to the records custodian.
Absence from AIS should not be stretched into a release time. A person may still be processing, may have moved to another authority, or may have a record that has not reached the public-facing system. Written proof remains the best choice when exact timing matters.
Walker County Bond-Out Changes
A same-day Walker County release may depend on bond. The sheriff's home page states that, effective July 1, 2024, misdemeanor arrests no longer qualify for O/R or UJR release and links a revised preset misdemeanor bond schedule. O/R means release on one's own recognizance; UJR is an unsecured judicial release. Neither should be assumed for a current case.
